Dialogue in Art : Zero-Zero

LEE & BAE is hosting the third installment of its annual special project program "Dialogue in Art," featuring artists Hye-Ryun Jeong and Su Kim under the theme "Zero-Zero : The Point of Zero." Although their forms of artistic expression and communication differ, both artists explore understanding the world connected to themselves, starting from different points and ultimately moving towards the point of zero. The exhibition runs from November 8 to December 31, 2024, showcasing 11 pieces of photography, sculpture, and installation art. Hye-Ryun Jeong expresses the organic relationship between humans and the environment and environmental changes through lines in space, while Su Kim depicts networks of external relationships through objects that finely reflect human emotions. The exhibition "Dialogue in Art" aims to develop an integrated discourse from a humanities perspective, including sociology, aesthetics, and philosophy, through artworks. It marks an important exhibition for LEE & BAE in reinforcing its role as a specialized art space for planned exhibitions.

About the Artists

Su Kim

Busan, South Korea, b. 1987

Artist Kim Su is a Busan-born installation artist who has been constantly interested in the essential and changing process of the nature of objects and the relationship between objects. The artist expands the process of changing things as they interact with other objects or due to such exchanges to fundamental questions about wounds, despair, and healing in relation to others. The artist seriously and cheerfully solves the structural problems that arise in the relationship and that prevail in daily life. In the process, the artist goes beyond the simple nihilism of the relationship, and nevertheless reveals the possibility of healing that individuals have received in the relationship. To release, Objects selected as works receive new values. What makes the artist's work unique is that it gives us new values to familiar objects, but also reveals its original function, blurring the boundaries between art and daily life, and inducing questions.

Hye Ryun Jung

Busan, South Korea, b. 1977

Hye Ryun Jung was born in Busan, Korea in 1977. She majored in sculpture at Pusan National University and its graduate school. She gained public attention as she was awarded the Artists of Tomorrow Award by Sungkok Art Museum in Seoul, Korea, in 2004. Jung was selected as an up-and-coming artist by the Songam Arts & Cultural Foundation and has won the Bongsaeng Young Culture Award, Ha Jung-woong Young Artist Award, a grant from SeMA (Seoul Museum of Art) for New Artists, and the 2012 Young Sculptor Prize of the Kim Chong Yung Museum. The artist has held solo exhibitions at domestic and international museums and galleries such as Kuandu Museum of Arts in Taiwan, The Busan Museum of Art, Sungkok Art Museum, OCI Museum of Art, and Seoul Olympic Museum of Art. In addition, she participated in 2007 International Incheon Women Artists' Biennale and Busan Biennale 2010. She is very interested in images or moldings created at the moment when the passed time is combined with the present time. She creates simple images and constructs into a minimal module. Then she reconstructs the modules in the new space.
