SOUL BLINDNESS "Damn!!! Transparent darkness!"
About the Artist
atelierJAK (Jangyoung Jung & Andreas Geisselhardt)
based in Stuttgart / Regensburg, Germany
As atelierJAK, we began as a collective project in 2008 and have been officially working as an artist duo since 2011. With our diverse cultural backgrounds and educational experiences, our group focuses on exploring the subtle boundaries between reality and phenomena, expressing these through both digital and analog media. Our work seeks to uncover meaning within the context of contemporary society. As society evolves and digital technologies advance, our modes of perception are rapidly changing. In this context, we examine the boundaries between phenomena and reality, investigating how these boundaries manifest within the framework of digital and analog. Our aim is to highlight the instability of social perception by deconstructing reality through digital media and then reconstructing it in analog form. This process goes beyond mere technological transformation, prompting a re-evaluation of how we perceive truth in society. The altered elements of "Soul Blindness" in the exhibition are designed to create confusion for the audience, encouraging them to question what to believe and what to doubt amidst the vast amount of information provided by modern society. Ultimately, our work is a philosophical exploration of the boundaries between reality and phenomena in contemporary society. Through this work, we seek to reveal how societal influences affect our perception at the intersections of digital and analog, reality and phenomena. In doing so, we pose fundamental questions about what truth is and how it can be perceived, inviting the audience to explore this complex reality with us.
