Space with Sunlight
LEE & BAE presents Space with Sunlight, a solo exhibition by Seontae Hwang. This exhibition brings together the artist’s “glass-photo” works, developed over years of living and working in Germany. Combining photography, glass, and wood, Hwang constructs layered images that resist fixed meanings, instead allowing perception to shift and circulate. He describes these works as spaces of thought—open structures where images unfold slowly and continuously. Moments from everyday life are captured through photography and transformed through material. The transparency of glass draws light inward, creating depth and quiet luminosity, while wooden frames hold and contain the image. Suspended between exposure and enclosure, the works detach from specific time and context, opening themselves to the viewer’s memory and imagination. Standing before the works, the viewer enters a field where light and image gently interact. The exhibition evokes the silent wonder of the camera obscura, where seeing becomes both a sensory and reflective act. Within this space, perception lingers—shifting, repeating, and quietly expanding beyond what is immediately visible.
